Ed Lynett is in his first season at Ursinus, serving as defensive coordinator
Lynett recently served as defensive line coach at East Stroudsburg University, where he also assisted with the special teams and was in charge of recruiting in southeastern Pennsylvania. Lynett has a long list experience at several institutions both on the Division I F.C.S. and the B.C.S. levels. His defensive resume includes stops at Bucknell, Sacred Heart, Iona and Lehigh University. During a four-year stint at Iona, he was the defensive coordinator where 16 of his players where named All-Conference. In 2006 and 2007, the team finished third in total defense in F.C.S. The Gales were ranked among the leaders in sacks, pass efficiency defensve and tackles for loss during the 2007 season.
He also served as a defensive graduate assistant at Colorado State University, where he assisted with the special teams and the defensive line.
A three-year letterwinner at Fordham University where he played both running back and defensive back, Lynett earned his degree from Fordham in 1992 and later got his MBA from Colorado State in 2002.
A 1988 graduate of Scranton Prep, he also served as an assistant varsity coach there from 1992 to 1998.
He is also part-owner of the Times Shamrock Communications company, based in Scranton. The company owns seven daily newspapers, over 20 weekly newspapers and 12 radio stations.
Off the field, Lynett has a six year old daughter named Delaney.
