Sue McDonough enters her eighth season as the head coach of the
Ursinus College women’s tennis team. In 2008-09, she was
named as the Centennial Conference Coach of the Year.
Coach McDonough comes to Ursinus with over 20 years of involvement
with the USTA both as a volunteer team captain and player in
singles, doubles and mixed doubles. She has earned multiple
opportunities to compete at the District and Sectional levels and
is the mixed doubles champion of several tournaments over the past
five years. She is a member of the USTA, ITA and is PTR certified.
She competes on the Kinetix Sports Club Buxmont team and
Owner’s Cup Team as well as a ladies USTA team and mixed
doubles team.
During the summer months she is the Director of the Palmer Park
Tennis Camp location in Skippack, Pa., instructing children ages
4-14 in the fundamentals of tennis. In addition, she has coached
the World Team Tennis High School team from Perkiomen Valley High
School. In each year, they have won their section each year and
advance to the District level.
McDonough earned her bachelor’s degree from Gettysburg
College in Spanish. Her teaching experience in Spanish makes her a
perfect fit for coaching at Ursinus College because she has a clear
understanding of the necessary balance between academics and
athletics.
She and her husband, John reside in Collegeville with their
children Katie, Jake, Dana and Erin.
