Jamie Steele is in his third season as head men's lacrosse coach
at Ursinus.
Steele comes to Ursinus from Haverford College, where he served as
an assistant coach for the men’s lacrosse program in the role
of offensive coordinator.
He is no stranger to the area, as Steele was head coach for six
seasons at nearby Widener University. While at Widener, Steele
posted a 65-31 record, leading the Pioneers to four Middle Atlantic
Conference championships. The team advanced to the NCAA Division
III Championship tournament four times. He also led Widener to the
school’s first win in the tournament in 2006. During that
season, the program posted 13 wins, which was a school record. He
is the all-time wins leader at Widener.
He was a convention speaker at the United States Intercollegiate
Lacrosse Association in 2002 and served on the NCAA Regional
Ranking Committee from 2004 to 2006.
He has also played in the Centennial Conference, serving as
captain for the Gettysburg College men’s lacrosse squad in
1994. That season, the Bullets advanced to the NCAA Division III
semifinals, while winning the Centennial Conference crown. Steele
returned to Gettysburg in 1996, serving as an assistant coach for
the program as defensive coordinator. During the 1999 season, the
team set a Centennial Conference record for fewest goals in a
season.
Steele is a 1994 graduate of Gettysburg College with a degree in
sociology, and earned his master’s degree from McDaniel
in 1999 in physical education with a concentration in athletic
administration.
