Engle to continue baseball career

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Ursinus College baseball coach Brian Thomas has announced that 2009 graduate Zeb Engle (Spring City, Pa./Spring-Ford) has accepted an offer to try out for the River City Rascals.

The Rascals, located in O'Fallon, Missouri, play in the West Division of the Frontier League.

"We are happy for Zeb," Thomas noted. "It's a great opportunity for him to continue playing baseball."

Engle re-wrote the Ursinus College record book last season, finishing as the all-time leader in career strikeouts with 302. That mark also set a new high for career Ks in the Centennial Conference.

He finished a perfect 9-0 with a ERA of 1.87 in 2009, leading the Bears to the semifinals of the Centennial Conference tournament.

He was a second-team D3Baseball.com All-American, in addition being named the Mid-Atlantic Pitcher of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association.

He was also named first-team All-Centennial, and earned Pitcher of the Year honors.
