Rountree named ECAC Southwest Rookie of the Year

CAPE COD, Mass. - Ursinus College freshman cornerback Chris Rountree (Lawnside, N.J./Haddon Heights) was named as the ECAC Division III Southwest Rookie of the Year on Wednesday afternoon by the conference office.

Rountree who was also selected to the third-team All-South Region defensive unit by D3Football.com, was named to the defensive unit as a defensive back.

Rountree became the first player in Ursinus history to achieve first-team honors in the Centennial as a freshman. He led the Centennial Conference with eight interceptions and had a team-high ten pass breakups. He also was second in the Centennial in passes defended with 16.

Ursinus finished with a record of 6-5 overall and 6-2 in Centennial play. The Bears lost to Kean in the ECAC bowl, their second trip to the post-season in the last three years.
