Rountree named third-team All-South Region by

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Ursinus College freshman cornerback Chris Rountree (Lawnside, N.J./Haddon Heights) was selected to the 2009 All-South Region football team this past weekend. The team is voted upon by Sports Information Directors and staff members.

Rountree was selected to the third-team defensive unit.

Rountree became the first player in Ursinus history to achieve first-team honors in the Centennial as a freshman. He led the Centennial Conference with eight interceptions and had a team-high ten pass breakups. He also was second in the Centennial in passes defended with 16.

Ursinus finished with a record of 6-5 overall and 6-2 in Centennial play. The Bears lost to Kean in the ECAC bowl, their second trip to the post-season in the last three years.
