Bears hope to keep CC title dreams alive on Saturday

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College football team will take their crack at the Centennial Conference crown this weekend, but, need some help to accomplish their first trip to the NCAA tournament since 1999.

The big task at hand is the Bears game with Dickinson on Saturday afternoon at Biddle Field. Dickinson (8-1, 6-1 Centennial) needs a win to keep their dreams of a Centennial crown alive as well.

Meanwhile, a Centennial matchup 52 miles down the road will be the deciding point as to who gets the CC crown.

Johns Hopkins (7-2, 6-1 Centennial) will take on McDaniel (5-4, 3-4 Centennial) at 1 p.m. Should the Blue Jays defeat the Green Terror, JHU will take the Centennial’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

If the Blue Jays falter, Dickinson can advance to the NCAA tournament with a win over the Bears. Ursinus (5-4, 5-2 Centennial) needs to defeat the Red Devils and have McDaniel defeat Johns Hopkins to force a three-way tie atop the Centennial. It could also be a four-way tie, if F&M (7-2, 5-2 Centennial) defeats Gettysburg (3-6, 3-4 Centennial) on Saturday.

In a three-way or four-way tie, Ursinus would get the bid to the tournament since they would have wins over Dickinson and Johns Hopkins.

The game will be broadcasted free of charge on the Ursinus College website. Bern Gavlick will have the call starting at around 12:45 p.m.
