Football picked third in Centennial coaches' poll
LANCASTER, Pa. – The Ursinus College football team was picked third in the 2010 pre-season poll released by the conference office on Thursday afternoon. The poll was voted upon by the head coaches and sports information directors in the conference, who were not allowed to vote for their own teams.
The Bears received 126 points and one first-place vote.
Johns Hopkins was the favorite with 154 points and 11 first-place votes, followed by Franklin & Marshall in second with 145 points.
After Ursinus, first-year member Susquehanna was fourth with 107 points and a first-place vote. Susquehanna joins the league as an associate member this year after winning the Liberty League last year.
Dickinson was fifth (99 points), followed by Muhlenberg (90), McDaniel (57), Moravian (52), Gettysburg (51) and Juniata (19).
Ursinus opens up the season on Saturday, September 4, at 7 p.m. at Albright.
