Bears blank Bryn Mawr 15-0; Moliken wins game 150 at Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Three different Ursinus players scored three goals each as the fourth-ranked Bears (8-2, 2-0 Centennial) defeated Bryn Mawr (0-9, 0-4 Centennial) 15-0 on Wednesday afternoon in field hockey play.

With the win, the Bears set a new Centennial Conference record for goals in a game. Also, head coach Laura Moliken won her 150th career game at Ursinus.

The Bears outshot the Owls 49-0.

Sophomore forward Alyssa Thren (Barto, Pa./Upper Perkiomen), freshman forward Catherine Bitterly (Rumson, N.J./Ramson-Fair Haven) and sophomore forward Corinne Freeman (Freehold, N.J./St. John Vienney) each had three goals. With Thren's three goals, she now leads the Centennial Conference with 16 goals and 34 points.

Senior midfielder Sarah Brant (Collegeville, Pa./The Hill School) had three assists, while senior forward Jen Hooven (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) and senior forward Jessica Zatwarnicki (Reading, Pa./Exeter) had two assists as the Bears built an 11-0 lead at the half.

Also scoring goals were junior midfielder Megan Yoder (Lititz, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite), Zatwarnicki, junior forward Michelle Wimmer (Palm, Pa./Upper Perkiomen), junior midfielder Bridget Resetco (West Chester, Pa./Downingtown West), Hooven and senior midfielder Kelly Becker (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin).

Three goalkeepers split time for the shutout, as senior Erica Scott (Carney's Point, N.J./St. Elizabeth), junior LauraLee Lightwood-Mater (Bethlehem, Pa./George School) and sophomore goalkeeper Jill Lukens (Furlong, Pa./C.B. East) all saw time.

Ursinus will host 14th-ranked Gettysburg on Saturday at noon.
