Making the Grade
CHANDLER, Ariz. – Eight members of the Ursinus College Field Hockey team were named to the 2009 Gladiator by SGI/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Collegiate National Academic Squad recently.
To be on the squad, a player must have a grade point average of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2009-10 academic year.
Members of the squad from Ursinus include: junior forward Jen Bayzick (Sugarloaf, Pa./Hazleton Area), junior back Maria Mastoris (Westampton, N.J./Rancocas Valley), freshman midfielder Julie Pilla (Mullica Hill, N.J/Gloucester Catholic), junior midfielder Bridget Resetco (West Chester, Pa./Downingtown West), sophomore forward Alyssa Thren (Barto, Pa./Upper Perkiomen), junior midfielder Michelle Wimmer (Palm, Pa./Upper Perkiomen), junior midfielder Megan Yoder (Lititz, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) and senior forward Jessica Zatwarnicki (Reading, Pa./Exeter).
The Bears finished 2009 with a record of 20-3 and won the Centennial Conference championship for the sixth straight year. The Bears advanced to the NCAA Semifinals for the second straight year.
