Laura Moliken to be inducted into Delaware Sports Hall of Fame
WILMINGTON, Del. – Ursinus College Director of Athletics and Head Field Coach Laura Moliken will be inducted into the Delaware Sports Hall of Fame at a ceremony on Wednesday, May 19 at Chase Center on the Riverfront.
Moliken, who has served as head field hockey coach at Ursinus since 1999 and as athletic director since 2009, graduated from William Penn High School in 1989. As a senior at William Penn, she was named Delaware Female Athlete of the Year. She earned 12 varsity letters at William Penn and was named all-state seven times, including first-team all-state honors in field hockey, basketball and softball during her senior year.
She won the 1988 Delaware state championship in field hockey, and was a three-time state champion in softball.
After graduating from William Penn, she was a four-year starter on the field hockey team at Old Dominion University, where she won three NCAA titles in 1990, 91 and 92. As a senior at Old Dominion, she was team captain and second-team All-American.
She returned to her alma mater in 1995 and led William Penn to the 1997 state championship, while compiling a 45-18-8 record.
In her 11 years at Ursinus, she has led the field hockey team to six NCAA tournaments with a national title in 2006.
