Field Hockey ranked high in two pre-season polls

The Ursinus College field hockey team received a high ranking in two coaches' polls that were released on Tuesday afternoon.

In the Centennial Conference poll, the Bears were a unanimous first-place pick with 100 points and ten first-place votes. Coaches, who voted in the poll, were not allowed to vote for their own team. Johns Hopkins was second with 87 points, followed by Gettysburg, Haverford and Franklin & Marshall.

In the NFHCA/Kookaburra Division III Coaches Poll, the Bears were picked third with 1078 points and four first-place votes. Salisbury took the top spot, followed by Messiah. After Ursinus, Tufts was fourth and SUNY-Cortland was fifth.

Ursinus opens up the season on Friday, September 3, at 7 p.m. as they host Messiah.
