Field Hockey announces 2011 schedule

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College field hockey team, under the direction of first-year head coach Janelle Benner, will open up their 2011 season on Friday, September 2, with a 7 p.m. game against Neumann University.

That will be the first of three straight road trips for the Bears to open the season, as the Bears cross the Delaware on Wednesday, September 7, to take on Rowan at 7 p.m. The road trip ends on Sunday, September 11 with a 2 p.m. game at Cortland State. 

The Bears return home on Wednesday, September 14, with a 4:30 p.m. game against Bryn Mawr. That game will also be the Centennial Conference opener. The Bears Family Day opponent will be Gettysburg College on Saturday, September 17, at noon.

Other highlights of the schedule including the homecoming game with F&M at noon on Saturday, September 24. A home game with The College of New Jersey is set for Tuesday, September 27, at 7 p.m. 

The Bears take on West Chester in the annual Snell Cup game on Sunday, October 16, at 1 p.m. in Collegeville. The home finale is set for Tuesday, October 25 at 4 p.m. against Eastern Mennonite, with the regular season finale set for Friday, October 28, at 7 p.m. at Muhlenberg.

Ursinus finished last season with a mark of 20-2 and a perfect 10-0 in Centennial play winning their seventh straight Centennial Conference title.
