Seeing the Sights

The Ursinus College field hockey team is currently visiting Holland on a training trip. The team will play several exhibition matches against quality club teams while taking in the sights.

This has been become an annual tradition for the field hockey team, which last went on the trip in 2009.

While the Bears are overseas, several members of the team are keeping track of their daily activities via a blog at

Team members who are helping contribute to the blog are junior forward Catherine Bitterly (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven), junior forward Alex Shafi (Watchung, N.J./Watchung) and sophomore Kara Bowen (Forty Fort, Pa./Wyoming Valley West). The Bears will be led by second-year head coach Janelle Benner.

The Ursinus College Field Hockey team finished the 2011 season with a 19-4 mark, winning their eighth straight Centennial Conference championship which advancing to their fourth straight NCAA Division III Semifinals.
