SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – After her historic beam performance in Sunday's dual meet against Brockport State, junior Kaelin Ruoss has been selected as the NCGA East Region Specialist of the Week.
Ruoss' dazzling routine earned her a 9.850 and a share of a school record that has stood unsurpassed since Jessica Furman received the same score in 2006. Kristin Aichele matched the mark in 2014, and Ruoss did so three years later to claim first place in the event.
Ruoss also registered a career best on the uneven bars, where her 9.650 was good for a fourth-place tie and helped Ursinus break the school record with a team tally of 48.100. The Bears finished the meet with a 190.975, their second-highest total of the season and their output of 190 or better.
The gymnastics team closes the regular season at West Chester on Saturday, March 11.
