A graduate of Temple University, Schepers brings over 34 years
of Level 9 and 10 gymnastics coaching experience to the forefront
of the Bears gymnastics program. He served as the director of the
gymnastics program at the Main Line YMCA for 14 years including
directing the 1994 team to the YMCA National Gymnastics
Championship. His previous collegiate coaching experience includes
a three-year stint as the assistant women’s gymnastics coach
at Temple.
“I feel very fortunate to be given the opportunity to coach
gymnastics at such a fine institution,” said Schepers.
“Ursinus carries with it a reputation for not only a strong
gymnastics program, but academic excellence as well.”
“I’m excited about bringing my gymnastics experience
to a team with the potential to capture the national
championship,” continued Schepers. “Not only do I hope
to bring out the best gymnastics in each member of the team, I hope
to be able to help them find the inner strengths and confidence
that will help guide them through their adult lives.”
To date, Ursinus has placed second and third at the NCGA National
Gymnastics and has brought home four ECAC titles. At the 2007 and
2008 NCGA National Championships, Schepers was named Coach of the
Year and also earned Coach of the Year honors from the NCGA,
Division III East Region.
