Jamie Steele is in his third season as head men's lacrosse coach
at Ursinus.
Steele comes to Ursinus from Haverford College, where he served as
an assistant coach for the men’s lacrosse program in the role
of offensive coordinator.
He is no stranger to the area, as Steele was head coach for six
seasons at nearby Widener University. While at Widener, Steele
posted a 65-31 record, leading the Pioneers to four Middle Atlantic
Conference championships. The team advanced to the NCAA Division
III Championship tournament four times. He also led Widener to the
school’s first win in the tournament in 2006. During that
season, the program posted 13 wins, which was a school record. He
is the all-time wins leader at Widener.
He was a convention speaker at the United States Intercollegiate
Lacrosse Association in 2002 and served on the NCAA Regional
Ranking Committee from 2004 to 2006.
He has also played in the Centennial Conference, serving as
captain for the Gettysburg College men’s lacrosse squad in
1994. That season, the Bullets advanced to the NCAA Division III
semifinals, while winning the Centennial Conference crown. Steele
returned to Gettysburg in 1996, serving as an assistant coach for
the program as defensive coordinator. During the 1999 season, the
team set a Centennial Conference record for fewest goals in a
season.
Steele is a 1994 graduate of Gettysburg College with a degree in
sociology, and earned his master’s degree from McDaniel
in 1999 in physical education with a concentration in athletic
administration.
Gary Mercadante

Gary Mercadante is in his third season as an assistant coach at Ursinus College
Mercadante is no stranger to the Centennial, as he recently graduated from Dickinson College with a degree in American Studies. He served as captain for the team for two seasons, and was the team’s Rookie of the Year in 2006.
He has been an instructor at several camps along the East Coast, including the Tier I Lacrosse Camp in nearby Haverford.
Aside from his lacrosse background, Mercadante has been very active in community service projects. In 2006, he helped rebuild the Plaquemines Parish community in southern Louisiana which was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. In January 2008, he provided help to the Native American Academy in Albuquerque, New Mexico, during the “Make a Difference Tour”. He was involved in a variety of work projects during the day and taught lacrosse to children along with the entire Dickinson team.

David Page is in his third season as an assistant men's lacrosse
coach at Ursinus.
He was a
three-year starting goalie for Kenyon and team captain his senior
season. Over his career he had a 60.1 save percentage and allowed
7.6 goals per game. He was in the NCAA tournament two times,
and finished second all-time in Kenyon history in goals against
average.
In 2009, Page
was awarded first team all-league. He also earned second team
all-league honors in 2008.
He was also
named player of the week by NCAC, and was a three-time James A.
Buffalin Award winner as Defensive MVP at Kenyon.
