Bears fall to Scranton, 2-1

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - University of Scranton senior midfielder Jeff Bochicchio scored two goals in the second half, including the game-winner in the 63rd minute as the Royals (4-1) handed Ursinus (1-2-1) a 2-1 loss in a physical men's soccer contest on Wednesday afternoon.

The two teams were whistled for a combined 31 fouls.

Ursinus did take a 1-0 lead near the end of the first half as senior midfielder David Breines (Holland Township, N.J./Del Val) scored on a free kick blast from about 24 yards out with just 1:19 left until halftime.

Bochicchio then scored his first goal in the 59th minute on a header following a cross from senior back Ralph Elliott.

Bochicchio's goal came following a pass from junior forward Michael Drew. Bochicchio then blasted the ball past Ursinus sophomore goalkeeper Mike Alfieri (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape).

Scranton, who had a 20-10 advantage on shots, got two saves from junior goalkeeper Brandon Dombrowski.

Ursinus will open Centennial Conference play on Saturday night, as the Bears travel to Gettysburg for a 7 p.m. matchup.
