Bears fall to Alvernia, 3-1

READING, Pa. - After scoring 53 seconds into the match, Ursinus saw Alvernia score two goals over the next nine minutes as the Crusaders (3-4) defeated the Bears (1-4-1) 3-1 Wednesday night in men's soccer play.

The Bears lone goal came as sophomore forward Jean Carlo Cordova (Quito, Ecuador/Spring-Ford) scored to give the Bears a 1-0 lead. Brice Stine would score the match-tying goal for Alvernia at 4:36, followed by the eventual match-winning goal at 9:06 as Morgan Davidheiser scored.

Alvernia tacked on one more goal with five seconds left in the match as Eric Franks scored.

Ursinus got three saves from sophomore goalkeeper Mike Alfieri (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape).

The Bears host McDaniel on Saturday.
