Bears win Guadalupe Invitational on Winter Training Trip
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica – While on their winter training trip
to Costa Rica, the Ursinus College swim team participated in the
Guadalupe Invitational.
The women got 520 points to take the top spot, while the men got
546 points also to finish in first place.
The men opened up with the three top spots in the 400-free as
junior Lloyd Tannenbaum (Dresher, Pa./Upper
Dublin) won the event with a time of 4:28.48, followed by
freshman Scott Paine (York, Pa./Dallastown Area)
in second (4:29.00) and freshman David Wagner (Whitehall,
Pa./Whitehall) in third at 4:49.86.
Sophomore Chris Smith (Wayne, Pa./St. Joseph’s
Prep) finished in the top spot in the 100-fly with a time
of 1:03.00.
In the 50-free, freshman Philip Quick (Bridgeton,
N.J./Cumberland Regional) was in the top spot at 26.19,
with freshman David Yazbeck (Dorchester Center,
Mass./Boston Latin School) in second place with a time of
26.48.
In the 100-back, Wagner won the event with a time of 1:09. Paine
won the 200-IM with a time of 2:26.96, with Smith taking second
with a time of 2:28.
In the 100-free, Tannenbaum won the event with a time of 59
seconds, followed by freshman Nicholas Roberts (Metuchen,
N.J./Metuchen) in third with a time of 1:01.80.
In the 100-breast, Quick won the event with a time 1:15.58 while
Yazbeck took second with a time of 1:17.61.
In the 200-free relay, Yazbeck, Smith, sophomore Kevin
Tallon (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) and freshman
Ryan Furlong (Douglaston, N.Y./Xavier) took the
top spot with a time of 1:49.77.
