Sunday sees Bears win another gold at Centennial Conference Championships
LANCASTER, Pa. - The Ursinus College swimming teams finished up
the 2010 season on Sunday night in the third and final day of the
2010 Centennial Conference Championships hosted by Franklin &
Marshall.
The women finished in fourth place with 409 points, just two points
ahead of Swarthmore. The men finished in fifth place with a score
of 388.
The Bears crowned another champion on Sunday night as sophomore
Danielle Yentz (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) won
the 200 back with a time of 2:10.17, just .78 seconds ahead of
Elizabeth Schroll of Dickinson. Yentz had come into the event
seeded first, after getting a 2:12.56 in the morning
preliminaries.
The top finisher on the night for the men was sophomore
Chris Smith (Wayne, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) who
finished second in the 200 fly with a time of 1:56.70, just .41
seconds behind Eliot Scymanski from F&M.
Junior Lloyd Tannenbaum (Dresher, Pa./Upper
Dublin) was third in the 1650 free with a time of
16:25.88, while freshman Scott Paine (York, Pa./Dallastown
Area) was sixth with a time of 16:41.29.
In the 100 free, freshman David Yazbeck (Dorchester Center,
Mass./Boston Latin School) was 12th with a time
of 48.51.
In the 200 breast, freshman Philip Quick (Bridgeton,
N.J./Cumberland Regional) was fifth with a time of
2:15.17.
In the final event, the 400 free relay, the team of Paine,
Tannenbaum, Smith and Yazbeck was fifth with a time of 3:14.28.
In the morming prelims, Smith set a school record with a time of
1:56.51, which earned him a top seed. In the 100 trials, Yazbeck
was tenth with a mark of 48.30.
Quick took seventh in the 200 breast trials with a time of 2:16.31.
