Smith named CC Men's Tennis Coach of the Year
LANCASTER, Pa. – Ursinus College head men's tennis coach Pete Smith was named as the Centennial Conference Coach of the Year on Friday morning by the conference office.
Smith, a 1991 graduate of Ursinus College, helped guide the Bears to an overall record of 10-11. The ten victories represent the first 10-win season for men's tennis since 1985.
In his third year, Smith has guided the Bears to 21 wins, which is higher than the Bears win total for the six previous seasons (19).
Smith, who also serves the Commissioner for the Centennial Conference, was a standout athlete in both basketball and men's tennis. In men's tennis, he won the 1990 Middle Atlantic Conference Singles Championship and earned more than 50 wins as a singles player. In basketball, he ranks eighth all time in scoring with 1,443 points.
He is also a member of the Ursinus College Hall of Fame for Athletes.
