Three named All-Centennial in softball
LANCASTER, Pa. – Three members of the Ursinus College softball team were named to the 2011 All-Centennial Conference first-team on Monday afternoon by the conference office. The team was voted upon by the league's head coaches who were not permitted to vote for their own players.
Sophomores Amy Gentile (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley), Allison Pfrommer (Franklinville, N.J./Delsea Regional) and Jennilyn Weber (Valley View, Pa./Tri-Valley) were all first-team selections at their respective positions.
Gentile, the Bears centerfielder, led the team in batting average at .342 with 39 hits, 18 runs scored and nine RBI. Her 18 runs scored and 39 hits were team-highs. She was also a perfect 6-for-6 on stolen base attempts.
Pfrommer, a repeat first-team selection, batted .305 with 32 hits, 16 runs scored and a team-best 14 RBI. She was also perfect in the field, as she made 176 putouts without an error. She led the Bears with a slugging percentage of .581. She also led the conference with six triples.
Weber finished the year with a mark of 12-10 with a 1.63 ERA, second-lowest in the conference. She had 114 strikeouts, but, led the Centennial in innings pitched (150.2).
Ursinus finished the season with a mark of 18-18, finishing the Centennial Conference tournament in third place after falling to Dickinson in the consolation final.
