Women's Lacrosse tops Widener 14-6

CHESTER, Pa – Freshman forward, Jayme Verman, topped her four goal performance against Rowan with another strong showing against Widener scoring five goals as the Ursinus College women's lacrosse program (4-1) defeated Widener (0-4) 14-6 Tuesday night at Edith R. Dixon Field.

Verman's fast start to the season now gives her 15 goals and 10 assists in five games.

Freshman Emma Ebert also excelled scoring three goals with Nicole Kovacs and Kitty Dawson both contributing 2 goals each.

The Bears jumped out to a 4-0 lead behind early goals from Kovacs, but two goals from Widener's Pinky Schneider cut the Bears lead to 6-3 after the first period.

The Pride continued to close the gap in the first seconds of the second period with a goal making the score 6-4. Verman rebounded quickly scoring the next two goals within a minute to put the game out of reach as the Bears outscored the Pride 8-3 in the second half.

Leading Ursinus in Goal was Margaret Philbin making 8 saves on 14 shots on goal.

Ursinus returns to action at home against Swarthmore Saturday March 22nd.
