Womens lacrosse battles but falls short of McDaniel
WESTMINSTER, Md. - Within the first thirteen minutes McDaniel went on a scoring surge to take a 6-0 but Ursinus' late run fell short, losing their third straight 11-8 at Gill Stadium Saturday afternoon.
The Bears drop to 7-7 and 2-5 in the Centennial Conference while McDaniel improves to 9-5 and 5-3 in conference.
Senior midfielder Caroline Cannon led the Bears with two goals while six other players contributed with a goal.
McDaniel was led by Mallory Michel getting six points on four goals and two assists.
Down 6-0 in the first half the Bears ended their scoring drought with a goal from Mary Deliberti at 3:06 and netted two more goals cutting the Green Terror's lead 6-3 at the half.
McDaniel came out in the second half on a 3-1 run to take a commanding 9-4 lead with 18 minutes remaining in the game. The Bears shifted momentum going on a four goal run, aided by two goals from Caroline Cannon, and coming within one goal but still trailing 9-8. The Green Terror sealed their victory with a goal from Mallory Michel in the final minutes of the contest.
The Bears finish their road trip with their final game away from home at Haverford Wednesday April 23rd at 4:00 pm.
