HAVERFORD, Pa. – Ursinus College freshman Jayme Verman scored a goal with 4:06 left to break a 4-all tie as the Bears (8-7, 3-5 Centennial) defeated Haverford (7-8, 3-5 Centennial) 6-4 on Wednesday afternoon at Swan Field.
The Bears held the Fords to just one goal over the final 37:15, outscoring Haverford 6-1 during that span.
Haverford started the game on a 3-0 run, with Dayna Kim scoring two goals. Her second, coming with 7:15 left, gave the Fords a 3-0 lead.
From there, Ebert started the scoring with a goal at 6:16 left in the half to cut the deficit to 3-1 at the end of the first.
In the second, Grabell scored back-to-back goals, the last coming with 22:27 left to knot the score at 3-all.
Brakel's goal at 16:27 on a free position shot gave Ursinus a 4-3 lead. Haverford would tie the score at 4-all when Sarina Manetta scored with 9:13 left.
After Verman scored, Ebert scored with one second left to ice the game.
Sophomore goalkeeper Margaret Philbin had four saves for Ursinus, who hosts Muhlenberg on Saturday.
