Bears have strong Saturday at Centennial Conference Championships


LANCASTER, Pa. - Freshman Jeannie Weaver won the CC title in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.97 Saturday night at the Centennial Conference Championships hosted by Franklin & Marshall.

Sophomore Danielle Yentz was second in the event with a time of 1:02.94.  The two had finished first and second in the morning preliminaries.

The 1-2 finish highlighted Saturday action, which saw six school records set.

Aside from Weaver and Yentz 1-2 finish, the Bears finished second in the 200 medley relay to start the evening, with a time of 1:52.10, which set a new school record. The team was made up of Weaver, Yentz, junior Bridget Winn and freshman Sarah Kolosky.

Winn would pick up a third-place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.11, which set a school record. Junior Jessica Saloky finished eighth in the event with a time of 1:10.31, with Kolosky finishing 13th at 1:11.92 and junior Kacie McCormick 15th with a time of 1:12.69.

In the 100 back, senior Elizabeth Gombosi was tenth with a time of 1:03.33

In the 200 free finals, Lyndsay MacFeeters finished in 16th place with a mark of 2:03.90.

In the final event of the evening, the team of senior Emily Herman, Yentz, Saloky and MacFeeters was sixth with a time of 8:13.93, which set a school record.

In the morning preliminaries, MacFeeters with 16th in the 200 free at 2:04.37.

In the 100 breast, Saloky was seventh with a time of 1:10.38, Kolosky was 12th at 1:12.00 and McCormick was 14th with a mark of 1:12.27.

Gombosi finished 15th with a mark of 1:04.93 in the 100 back.
