NEW ORLEANS – Sophomore Catherine Buczek added another prestigious distinction to her breakout campaign on Monday, earning All-Mideast Region honors from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
All-region status is awarded to student-athletes who rank within the top five in each event in each region, as well as the top three relay teams.
Buczek's regional recognition comes in the 400-meter hurdles, where she clocked a top time of 1:04.08 to corral a silver medal at the Centennial Conference Outdoor Championships. That marked the first individual conference medal for Buczek, who collected another silver as part of the 4x400-meter relay unit that also included senior Erin Farrell and juniors Jenna Kelly and Katherine Damato.
Buczek gives the Bears an outdoor all-region honoree in back-to-back seasons. Krista Snyder '16 earned that distinction both in the heptathlon and long jump a year ago.
