BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Ursinus College volleyball team got off to a great start to the 2011 season, by capturing the championship of the Gold Bracket at the 2011 Greyhound Premiere Invitational hosted by Moravian College over the weekend.

On Friday night, the Bears went 1-1 in Pool A play, as they opened with a 3-1 win over Gwynedd-Mercy College. Set scores were 21-25, 25-20, 25-18 and 25-14. In the final match of the night, the Bears dropped a 3-0 decision to Moravian. Set scores were 25-15, 25-12 and 25-21.

Saturday afternoon, the Bears won the Gold Bracket by going 2-0 in their two matches. Against Alvernia, the Bears won 3-0 by scores of 25-20, 25-20 and 25-23. In a match against Wilkes University, the Bears won 3-0 with scores of 25-16, 25-20 and 25-13.

Freshman setter Gina Powers (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) was named to the All-Tournament team.
