LOUISVILLE, Ky. – On the heels of their sensational performances in the season opener, Ursinus College men's lacrosse seniors Peter DeSimone and Nick Kirk were selected to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III Team of the Week.
The veteran pair was one of the driving forces behind a 13-9 victory at No. 17 Stevenson on Saturday, cranking their games up in crunch time to ensure the Bears left with their first road win over a ranked team since 2015.
DeSimone, the Centennial Conference offensive player of the week, tied his own program record with six assists and added two goals for an eight-point night. The attack had a hand in four straight goals during a 6-0 run over the last 9:50, helping Ursinus turn a two-goal deficit into a comfortable result.
Kirk saved his best for last, making nine of his career-high 16 saves in the second half. Six of those stops came during the final 20:21 of game time, as Kirk and company held the high-powered Mustangs scoreless. The senior posted a save percentage of .640.
