GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Two event victories and a host of big personal bests made for a highly successful trip to Gwynedd Mercy's annual Mid-Week Twilight Meet for the Ursinus College women's track and field team.
Senior Brittany Gasser claimed top honors in the 400-meter dash with a collegiate-best 1:00.41, moving up to fourth in the Centennial Conference with easily the top time of her brief outdoor track career. Sophomores Michela Coleman (1:03.56) and Neve Durrwachter (1:06.95) also sandwiched their own PRs around a solid time from classmate Rachel Coleman (1:04.32).
Freshman Rosie Cuomo finished the 400-meter hurdles in 1:12.84, a personal record and good for sixth on the conference charts; she also placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (16.59).
Rachel Coleman, Rodebaugh, and Hunt joined sophomore Gianna Speranza to post a 50.64 in the 4x100-meter relay, only a hundredth off a second off the Bears' season best time, which ranks third in the CC.
Speranza had one of the best field performances of the night, earning a massive PR with a mark of 16-5.25 in the long jump; she now ranks fourth in the conference, and senior Caroline Buckley matched her season high with a 15-11.
Senior Morgan Cope won the pole vault at an even 10 feet.
Senior Mikaela Bordonaro's toss of 119 feet and 9 inches was a personal best in the hammer throw and the fourth-best heave in the CC this season, while junior Sophie Simoes landed one inch off her own PR with a 113-foot mark.
The women's track and field team heads to Salisbury for the Eastern Shore Challenge on Saturday.
